Sustainable management of construction waste – reuse of fire-classified products step 2
The construction sector is of great importance to Sweden and the Swedish economy, with an annual turnover of just over SEK 1,000 billion and employment of approximately 550,000 people. Indeed, the built environment makes up about half of the national wealth. Common estimates show that the sector corresponds to around 40% of Sweden’s total energy use and generates a significant part of the total material flows and waste volumes in society. There is a clear need for the sector to reduce its climate impact, but the size of the sector means that there are also many ways to attack the issue.
